Iran fired missiles at a U.S. military installation in Qatar, retaliating against recent U.S. airstrikes on its nuclear facilities. Iranian state TV announced the assault on Monday evening, labeling it a “powerful and effective counterstrike” to U.S. aggression, targeting American troops at the Al Udeid Air Base near Doha. The U.S. reported no casualties, while videos captured explosions in the Doha sky as U.S. and Qatari defenses intercepted the missiles.
This escalation follows U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, prompting Qatar to close its airspace on Monday as a safety measure.

Qatar denounced the strike as a “blatant breach of its sovereignty and international law,” asserting its right to respond, and confirmed its defenses neutralized the threat without any injuries. Both U.S. and UK citizens were urged to shelter in place.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian posted on X, denying war initiation but vowing to counter aggression against Iran. The U.S. confirmed the Al Udeid attack, noting no initial casualties, though a separate strike on the Ain al-Assad base in Iraq—possibly by Iranian-backed militias—was reported. Tehran suggested its missile count matched U.S. bombs, hinting at de-escalation intent, and officials had pre-notified Qatar to limit harm. Meanwhile, Israel intensified its campaign against Iran, striking Tehran targets like Evin prison and military headquarters amid ongoing missile exchanges, with internet blackouts isolating Iranians. President Trump’s remarks on regime change sparked further tension, while Iran threatened direct retaliation against U.S. forces in the region.
